Cottonwood Heights calls itself the city between the canyons. It sits at the mouths of Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, and the resorts above it, Snowbird and Alta on SR-210 and Solitude and Brighton on SR-190, host some of the most scenic conferences, retreats and weddings in Utah. Getting production gear up those roads safely is its own job.
True AV brings sound, lighting, staging, LED video walls and backline to the valley floor and to the resorts. We have worked Castle Creek Inn on Creek Road, and for canyon shows we plan trucks, crew and backup gear around the traction law and road closures. Proposals are itemized, usually the same day, and you get a named show-day lead.

Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons are a stricter Class 3 segment under Utah's traction rule, and UDOT can switch requirements on up to 24 hours before a storm. When the beacons at the canyon mouths flash, every vehicle needs at least 5/32 inch tread, and heavy trucks over 12,000 lb without all-wheel drive need chains on all rear drive tires. There are no gas stations in either canyon.
SR-210 can close for avalanche control, and Alta and Snowbird can order interlodge, which keeps everyone indoors. In April 2023, closures and interlodge kept guests and staff at the two resorts for almost five days. Alta's town marshal has said a normal busy winter can bring up to 10 serious road events.
Little Cottonwood climbs from about 5,000 feet at the mouth to Snowbird's main base near 8,100 feet and Alta at 8,530 feet. The Summit at Snowbird sits at the top of the Aerial Tram on 11,000-foot Hidden Peak. Crew, performers and guests feel that altitude, and canyon evenings get cold even in summer.
Snowbird's Oktoberfest, billed as Utah's oldest and largest, ran for the 54th time in 2026, on Saturdays and Sundays from August 8 to October 11 plus Labor Day. Plan fall weekend events at Snowbird around the crowds and canyon traffic it brings.
Down in the city, Butlerville Days fills Butler Park each July with a main stage of live music, a parade, a drone show and fireworks. The 2026 edition ran July 16 to 18.

Road closures for avalanche control can still stop traffic, so we build buffer time into canyon load-ins.
The resorts can order interlodge, which keeps everyone inside, and the road can stay closed for hours or, in rare storms like April 2023, for days. Talk with the venue about its closure policy, and make sure your AV team has backup gear on site and a plan for crew who may be stuck up the canyon.
