Salt Lake County is Utah's most populous county and its busiest event market. It runs from the downtown convention district in Salt Lake City to the fast-growing south valley cities of Sandy, Draper, South Jordan, Riverton and Bluffdale, with ski resorts in the canyons above it all.

Salt Lake County owns both the Salt Palace Convention Center downtown and the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy, which has more than 234,000 sq ft of flexible space. Its Arts & Culture division also runs Abravanel Hall, the Capitol Theatre, the Eccles Theater, the Rose Wagner and the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center in Taylorsville.
The county plans to close the Salt Palace entirely from fall 2027 for about three years, with reopening targeted for early 2031. Some events may shift to the Expo Center in Sandy, and downtown groups will lean on hotel ballrooms in the meantime.
