Sandy packs a stadium, a county expo center, a major theater and a 2,700-seat amphitheater into one city center, most of it within reach of TRAX. It is also the jumping-off point for Little Cottonwood Canyon, so planners use it for both expo-hall shows and winter retreats up the road at Alta and Snowbird.

America First Field, the Mountain America Expo Center, Hale Centre Theatre and City Hall all sit in the city center between 9000 S and 11400 S. Four TRAX Blue Line stations serve it, including Sandy Expo at 9375 S for the Expo Center and stadium. Attendees can skip the parking lot entirely.
America First Field is home to Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC, and its rentals team books clubs and a two-level pavilion on non-match days. You get stadium-grade infrastructure for a banquet of a few hundred or a reception of 1,500.
SR-209 runs from Sandy up to Alta, and a seasonal UTA ski bus leaves from the Historic Sandy TRAX station for Alta and Snowbird. That makes Sandy the practical staging point for winter corporate retreats in the canyon.
July highs average about 95 F, and the record is 111 F. The Sandy Amphitheater season runs May through September, so daytime load-ins need shade, water and heat breaks for crew and performers.
The Sandy City Hot Air Balloon Festival reached its 19th year in 2026, with sunrise launches at Storm Mountain Park and a Saturday evening Balloon Glow with a DJ and drone show at the City Promenade. The city also runs a July 4th celebration, Movies in the Park, a Heritage Festival and Food Truck Night.

Salt Lake County has said some Salt Palace events may move to the Expo Center in Sandy during the downtown closure, which starts in fall 2027. The Expo Center's five halls are 48,600 sq ft each with 30 ft ceilings, and most shows there bring in outside production.
