Tooele County covers more than 7,000 square miles west of the Oquirrh Mountains, from the Tooele Valley out to Wendover and the Nevada line. Most of the county's roughly 87,000 people live in the valley, in Tooele, Grantsville, Erda, Lake Point and Stansbury Park. The rest is desert, military land and salt flats.

The Peak Sports and Entertainment Complex, formerly Deseret Peak Complex, has hosted rodeos, demolition derbies and Country Fan Fest since 1999. It is also home to Tooele County Heritage Days, the county fair, which ran July 30 to August 1 in 2026.
The Bonneville Salt Flats are BLM land, 120 miles west of Salt Lake City. Races, runs, photo shoots and filming all need a special recreation or film permit from the BLM Salt Lake Field Office. Racing groups hold exclusive-use dates from late June through September.
The Tooele County Health Department warns that winter inversions trap pollution in the valley. In summer, wind can carry dust off the exposed Great Salt Lake bed. Both affect outdoor shows and crew planning.

Yes, with a special recreation or film permit from the BLM Salt Lake Field Office. Avoid the exclusive-use racing weeks and the spring months, when wet salt closes it to vehicles. There are no event facilities on the salt, so plan to bring in power and everything else.
